Hanging out at the Raffles L’Ermitage – this swanky suite in Bev Hills.
Meet Rob Thomas, we sit down, what do we do? Immediately tweet. Yes. Tweet. Of course I @reply-him, and his response? He twitters about me. This is kind of a big deal. I think this is the moment where Twitter officially beats out Facebook in terms of “coolness” on the social networking coolness scale.
Anyway. We do our little interview thing. Etc. I don’t want to go into the details of the interview because well, I’ll leave that for the TV to show. I think the highlights were after the interview.
It was pretty chill talking to Rob. I don’t listen to his new stuff much, but I was pretty big Matchbox 20 (now Twenty) fan back in the day. FYI – the change from 20 to “Twenty?” Totally an aesthetic thing. He said it “looked cooler.” Oh, and Rob didn’t want to continually get confused with the likes of Blink 182 and Sum 41…
Rob Thomas, FYI, super-easy guy to talk to. We ended up talking Twitter for like another 20 minutes post interview- we discussed tweeting while dating, tweeting under the influence, and his tweetbacks with Diddy.
Apparently he was “under the influence” in Malibu during the time of this past weekend’s earthquake. They just thought they were imagining things… until of course, people’s phones started blowing up (probably buzzes from Tweets – “earthquake!”)
I made a few confessions to Rob that probably made me come off as super “geeky” or well…passionate about Twitter. I told him specifically about an incident at dinner, where about an hour in, I gave in and started tweeting away. He said that I’d probably never hang with the person I was with again. I informed Rob that I was seeing said-individual again that night.
To add to the geeki-ness, I was like, “OMG, your intials are RT! Like a twitter ReTweet! :-/ We proceeded to plot ways to sue Twitter and get his fair share.
In my defense..uhh… “I’m not crazy, I’m just a little unwell?”
Side note: Yes, I waited ’til 3 am before publishing this post. Gimmicky, I know.
